Check the clips after the first winter. Wind under an array works at anything fixed around its edge, and a clip that has released leaves a gap birds will find within days.

Pigeons do not perch on solar panels in any way that matters. They nest in the gap between the panels and the roof, and that is a different problem needing a different product.
Spikes do not solve it, because there is no perch to remove. What is needed is to close the gap around the perimeter of the array.
This is galvanised welded steel mesh with a black PVC coating, supplied with stainless steel fasteners that clip to the panel frame.

Black mesh under a black array is close to invisible from the ground.

The reason this product exists is that solar arrays create a warm, sheltered, predator-free cavity a few centimetres deep across an entire roof slope. From a pigeon's point of view it is close to ideal, and once one pair nests there others follow.

The consequences are not only mess. Nesting material under panels holds moisture against the roof, blocks airflow that the panels need for efficiency, and can work into the cable runs. Removing an established colony is a scaffolding job.

Fitting is a perimeter task, so measure the perimeter of the array rather than its area. The mesh clips to the panel frame with stainless fasteners, which is the important detail: drilling the roof risks the roof, and drilling a panel almost certainly voids the panel warranty.

Clear before you close. Sealing an existing nest inside the void traps birds, which is both inhumane and, if the nest is active, unlawful under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. Have the array cleared first, outside the nesting season, and close it afterwards.

Why will spikes not fix my solar panel problem?
