The first thing people want to know is whether these hurt cats, and the answer is no. The points are blunt and moulded, and they cannot pierce a paw.
What they do is make a fence top awkward to balance and walk on, and cats are fastidious about where they put their feet.
Fit them along the rail or coping the cats actually use, and they take a different route.
Sold per 50 cm strip with no minimum, so treating the one section that matters costs very little.
On timber use screws or cable ties rather than adhesive alone, because a fence moves through a winter in a way a wall does not.
A cat crossing a fence is doing a balance job. The top rail is narrow already, and a cat places each paw deliberately. A strip of blunt points takes the confidence out of that, and the cat simply goes round.
That is the whole mechanism, and it is why blunt works. Something sharp enough to hurt would be both unnecessary and, if it injured a neighbour's cat, a problem you do not want.
Placement beats quantity every time. Watch where they actually come over, which is usually one or two spots rather than the whole boundary, and treat those. Most people spend a fraction of what they expected to.
On timber, fix with screws or cable ties. Adhesive on a fence rail that swells and shrinks through a winter will let go, and a strip that lifts at one end is worse than no strip at all.
One honest limitation: a determined cat that has been using your garden for years will test alternatives. If it can jump from a shed, a bin or a branch it will, so look at what else gives it a way in before assuming the fence is the whole answer.

Will these hurt a cat?
No. The points are blunt and moulded and cannot pierce a paw. They make a fence top uncomfortable to balance on, which is a different thing from painful.
Is it cruel?
No. It is the humane option in this category. We do not sell anything that harms an animal.
Is it legal to stop cats crossing my fence?
Yes, using a humane deterrent on your own property. What would cause you problems is anything capable of injuring an animal, which is exactly why these are blunt.
What if it is my neighbour's cat?
