It suits any surface a larger bird lands on: ledges, window sills, parapets, rooftops, gutters, fences and signage.
Fix it with adhesive, screws, nails or cable ties, cut it with tin snips, and it does not need touching again beyond an annual clear out.
If you are not sure which of our spikes to buy, this is almost always the answer.
It is worth saying plainly what the species pages on this site are. Nine of them describe the same physical strip, named for the bird people are searching for. There is no different product hiding behind the pigeon page or the seagull page, and we would rather tell you that than let you order three things that are one thing.
What differs is the advice, and that genuinely does differ by bird. A gull needs a longer approach than a pigeon. A squirrel is following a route rather than choosing a perch. Small birds are not really a spike problem at all.
So the product decision is simple and the placement decision is not. Measure the whole run, divide by 50 cm and round up, and use two rows on anything wider than about 15 cm.
Fitting is a clean surface and a good exterior sealant, or screws where there is something to screw into. Old droppings and moss are the reason a strip lifts a year later, so scrape and wash first.
One legal point applies to every bird on this site: under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 it is an offence to damage or destroy a nest while it is being built or in use. Treat surfaces outside the nesting season.

Can I use them on a gutter?
Yes, and stopping a nest there saves a blockage later.
Can I use them on a sign?
Yes, signage is one of the best uses, because droppings on a sign are what customers see.
Can I remove them later?
Yes, if you fit them with screws or a removable adhesive. Worth thinking about if you rent.
Do you fit them?
No, we supply only. Anything at height should be a job for someone equipped for it.
